Hello fellow animal lovers, I’m sorry you need this content.

Losing your four legged family is so difficult, I’m genuinely sorry for your loss whether it just happened, or is approaching. About a million of us go through this each year, that doesn’t make it easier, but know that you are not alone. If you need to learn the basics of pet cremation, I recommend you read the post titled The Basics of Cremation.

If you are seeking pet cremation costs in the Boise area, there is only classic flame based cremation. Aquamation is a newer technology and not every city (or state) is on board with it. There seems to be no official pet cemetery.

The Boise area is the capital of Idaho, and unlike many state capitals, is the largest urban area. Boasting a population of 500,000, it is a midsize city, and is just about average it terms of cost of living. It is pet friendly, with many outdoor areas, state parks, and even a few outdoor patio/bars welcoming your dog.

My goal is to provide you with empowering consumer information, not to advertise for anyone, or malign their business, so no names will be used, but it isn't difficult to figure out an individual business if you wish to. Despite the areas population, there are relatively few business that provide these services, so I'll be reviewing the 3 today.

Location 1,West of Boise- This business offers classic flame based cremation in private, semi-private, and communal varieties. Their prices include an urn for private or semi private cremation, for communal no ashes are returned. They will pick up in the area which costs 40 -100 depending on the drive.

Location 2, West Central- This business offers classic flame based cremation, either individual or communal. The prices for individual do include an urn. Pickup of an animal depends on distance, with most pick-ups costing around 60. The woman on the phone was extra kind.

Communal Cat 75 Medium dog 105 Large dog 125

Location 3, West Central- This business offers classic flame based cremation, either individual or communal. The prices for individual do include an urn. Pickup of an animal depends on distance, with most pick-ups costing around 100.

Summary

The Boise area is relatively compact, has a slightly higher than average cost of living, and loves their pets, but doesn't seem to have an active pet cemetery. There are relatively few pet aftercare businesses, but a lot of people own a bit of land, and rules in ID are fairly permissive, so lots of pets are likely buried in the yard.

-Overall, this area is pick up friendly, costing from 40 -100 depending on exact location

-A private cremation for a cat will likely cost between $130 - 175

-A private cremation for a medium size dog will likely cost between $195 - 275

-A private cremation for a large dog will likely cost between $275 - 380

-Communal cremation runs $40 - 220 depending on size

-In Boise depending on the service you want, your costs can vary significantly even though these businesses are pretty close together. Especially if communally cremating a cat, or privately cremating a large dog the price range is significant.

Sometimes people are in a rush to make cremation or funeral decisions. Slow down. Consider your options carefully, once you make these choices, there is no going back. Your four legged family will be fine lying in state at home for a day or two if that’s what it takes to do this right. You can check out this page for an eBook on how to have a pet funeral at home.
