Hello fellow animal lovers, I’m sorry you need this content.

Losing your four legged family is so difficult, I’m genuinely sorry for your loss whether it just happened, or is approaching. About a million of us go through this each year, that doesn’t make it easier, but know that you are not alone. If you need to learn the basics of pet cremation, I recommend you read the post titled The Basics of Cremation.

If you are seeking pet cremation costs in the Phoenix area, you have access to traditional flame based cremation, the more modern aquamation, and even a pet cemetery.

The Phoenix metro area is huge in population and in physical size, boasting nearly 5 million residents, and is by far the largest city in Arizona. This area has a slightly higher than average cost of living, and is moderately pet friendly. There are multiple dog parks, a few restaurants where your dog is welcome, but suffers from extreme heat part of the year.

My goal is to provide you with empowering consumer information, not to advertise for anyone, or malign their business, so no names will be used, but it isn't difficult to figure out an individual business if you wish to. I'll be reviewing 5 of the communities offerings today.

Location 1, East Valley- This business offers classic flame based cremation. Private cremations include an urn. Communal cremations do not return ashes, they are scattered in a wild area. They do not offer pick up.

Location 2, fairly central- This business offers classic flame based cremation, private, individual, or communal. The prices for private include an urn and paw print, for individual an economy urn is provided, and for communal nothing is returned. Pick up is available on the weekend only.

Location 3, southeast- This business offers traditional cremation, either private or communal. The price for private includes an economy urn. For communal, nothing is returned. Pick up is 190, which is a lot, but Phoenix is a large city.

Communal Cat 100 Medium dog 100 Large dog 140

Location 4, also central- This business offers aquamation, a water based process. They do offer private or communal aquamation. For private, a cremains box and paw print is included, for communal, nothing is returned.

Communal Cat 50 Medium dog 110 Large dog 160

Location 5, north- This is a pet cemetery, not every community has one, but with a population 5 million in the area, and ample land, it makes sense here. A funeral for your pet is going to cost near 3000, which is an inclusive price, and includes an engraved foot stone and perpetual care of the site.

Summary

The Phoenix area is large, has a slightly elevated cost of living, and is the largest city in the Southwest.

-Overall, pet pick up is rare and expensive here.

-A private cremation/aquamation for a cat will likely cost about $150

-A private cremation/aquamation for a medium size dog will likely cost $140 - 240

-A private cremation/aquamation for a large dog will likely cost $160 - 300

-Communal cremation/aquamation runs $50 - 110 depending on size

-Burying your pet in the sole pet cemetery will cost about $3000

Sometimes people are in a rush to make cremation or funeral decisions. Slow down. Consider your options carefully, once you make these choices, there is no going back. Your four legged family will be fine lying in state at home for a day or two if that’s what it takes to do this right. You can check out this page for an eBook on how to have a pet funeral at home.
