Hello fellow animal lovers, I’m sorry you need this content.

Losing your four legged family is so difficult, I’m genuinely sorry for your loss whether it just happened, or is approaching. About a million of us go through this each year, that doesn’t make it easier, but know that you are not alone. If you need to learn the basics of pet cremation, I recommend you read the post titled The Basics of Cremation.

If you are seeking pet cremation costs in the Spokane area, you can choose between classic cremation or the more modern aquamation. The pet cemetery seems to have filled and closed years ago as it was started in the 1930's.

The Spokane area is the capital of Washington, but like many state capitals, isn't the largest city. Boasting a population of 600,000, it is a midsize city, and is just about average it terms of cost of living. It is pet friendly, with many outdoor areas, and even some restaurants welcoming your dog.

My goal is to provide you with empowering consumer information, not to advertise for anyone, or malign their business, so no names will be used, but it isn't difficult to figure out an individual business if you wish to. Despite the areas population, there are relatively few business that provide these services, so I'll be reviewing the only 3 today.

Location 1, Northern Spokane- This business offers classic flame based cremation and is a large chain. Their prices include an urn for private cremation, for communal no ashes are returned. They will pick up for free by appointment.

Communal Cat 150 Medium dog 205 Large dog 260

Location 2, West Spokane- This business offers classic flame based cremation, either individual or communal. The prices for individual do not include an urn, instead cremains are returned in a classy bag. Urns are an additional 35-100 depending on the style and customization options. Pickup of an animal is a modest 50 fee.

Communal Cat 125 Medium dog 140 Large dog 190

Location 3, East Spokane- This business offers aquamation, either private or communal. The prices include 24 hour pickup, and urn, ink paw prints, and fur clippings. They seemed to excel at customer service.

Summary

The Spokane area is relatively compact, has an average cost of living, and loves their pets, but doesn't seem to have an active pet cemetery, and only 3 business that are serving this need.

-Overall, this area is pick up friendly, perhaps in part due to it's compact size. 2 of the 3 businesses will pick up your pet for free, and the other was a modest cost. In some cities, pick up can be several hundred dollars.

-A private cremation or aquamation for a cat will likely cost between $175 - 260

-A private cremation or aquamation for a medium size dog will likely cost between $200 - 300

-A private cremation or aquamation for a large dog will likely cost between $275 - 410

-Communal cremation or aquamation runs 125 - 260 depending on size

-Usually the prices for aquamation are higher than classic cremation, but not here, with the aquamation place offering a seemingly good value considering all the inclusions.

Sometimes people are in a rush to make cremation or funeral decisions. Slow down. Consider your options carefully, once you make these choices, there is no going back. Your four legged family will be fine lying in state at home for a day or two if that’s what it takes to do this right. You can check out this page for an eBook on how to have a pet funeral at home.
